Is there an easy way to get the timeline I read on twtxt.net timeline in RSS?
@prologic@twtxt.net (#qsjny5a) Hey, I had no intent to complain or express frustration. Just really feel excited about what you ppl have created around twtxt and would like to engage to make things better.
Recording the resistance in my process of ātrying to figure out what you guys are talking aboutā / providing an outsiderās view (not like the ppl in conversations who know the context well) may do help in some ways, I guess. And itās my turn to say sorry for my limited technical skills š.
Thanks for your clarification and Iāll take time to learn more about existing extensions.
Hi there! As a novice (digging from a blog site -> that uses ASS -> that mentions twtxt in its one repo issue) here, Iām a bit confused when using Yarn pod site & Goryon Android APP.
While scrolling twts on Goryon, Iāll 100 percent press conversation btn if one twt interests me, to know the context. However scrolling down, I probably see the same twt in another twtās conversation. So that means the upper subject just donāt show up when I check the conversation of one twt involved?
Then I turn to Yarn pod site to get some clues. In the main timeline page replies are called Yarn, same as Conversation in Goryon, right? hopping in then I finally know thereās a Root behind this twt. One more click, better than not knowing in Goryon.
Now I have a vague feeling that conversation Forks like a tree. A reply with replies to it becomes a subject that owns #hash.
Is it possible to see the path to the starting root more easily? Maybe a btn to reveal/fold upper subjects, always on first page/screen so no need to click a lot.
This is a tweet from 2023!
(#ijtgw3a) @mckinley@twtxt.net non-x86 is still my primary machine at home, I wouldnāt want it any other way :) But itās a bit more modern than G5.
(#ijtgw3a) @mckinley@twtxt.net Mostly, yes. I experimented with various other systems like the pre-systemd Debian, but the main OS for most tasks was Leopard. With Sevanās pkgsrc repository, TenFourFox and TenFourBird it was pretty usable untill the end. This probably is my last desktop screenshot from it.
(#v4zylza) What does the fork button do?
(#pkyf3cq) @prologic@twtxt.net Oh okay. Forgive me, Iām not a big computer expert but I know what a hash is at least
(#pkyf3cq) @prologic@twtxt.net But how do you know that e-mail is mine if you donāt store it?
(#pkyf3cq) @support@twtxt.net You say you donāt store my email. How could you reset my password without it?
Just trying this whole Yarn thing out. How are we doing today?
Three days of using mutt and Iām already thinking of making it my main mail client.
(#ijtgw3a) @mckinley@twtxt.net I used this myself for ages (my primary machine was dual G5 until 2018), but this is all emulation - an i686 CPU is emulated in the QEMU to run i686 Windows. Iām running PowerPC version of Windows (only NT 3.5 and NT 4.0 were released for PowerPC as well as MIPS and DEC Alpha) on PowerPC workstation from 1995. It has a 67MHz PowerPC 603, 64 MB of RAM and 1GB HDD. Here is the original news from when it was released: https://techmonitor.ai/technology/bulls_low_end_powerpc_estrella_to_go_via_zenith
(#ijtgw3a) @movq@www.uninformativ.de Yes, this is bare metal - I donāt even think that it is possible to run NT on PowerPC in emulation or at least I didnāt see anyone running it. It requires special firmware that only Motorola provided, about half dozen machines were supported. I had to download the firmware from archive.org and flash it as my Bull Estrella didnāt have it, just the generic firmware for running AIX.
(#55osyka) @movq@www.uninformativ.de I seem to like mutt and it only took one afternoon :)
(#ybid3lq) @movq@www.uninformativ.de Mea culpa, I broke the thread myself - original twtxt client posts date in local time, Jenny posts GMT, so I corrected the timestamp in twtxt.txt, changing the hash⦠From now on I wonāt mess with the file by hand.
Last week was a quite succesfull one: I survived up to and past my 39th birthday, built and configured Jenny+mutt, updated Intex Aqua Fish all the way from Sailfish OS 2.0 to 4.4, and installed Windows NT 4.0 Workstation on a PowerPC machine. http://screenshots.i-logout.cz/Bull_Estrella_WinNT_4-2022_11_26.png
Question for the more experienced: Is it safe to manually retroactivelly enter the topic hashes to my first twtxt posts? So that replies would group with the posts?
(#ehpotda) @prologic@twtxt.net I like that long links do not consume much of the tweet (which was mostly important back in the 140-character times), I hate the tracking as well though. And it used to mess gopher:// URLs!
A Lua-based markup language: https://codeberg.org/akkartik/luaML.love
Finally managed to configure Jenny and the mutt integration, so probably this would be my true start to twtxt. Iām still fighting the mutt a bit though as I always was more of a pine person.

I felt this weird last time when I tried to seriously use Plan 9. I donāt even know even how to reply to someone as it doesnāt seem like the original twtxt Python client supports the topic in brackets. But I managed Gopher, Z80 assembly, and paddleboarding, I will manage twtxt as well.

This twtxt thing is very new to me. Strange clients, I donāt know who to follow, I even do not understand the timeline. Nice.
